About

markOn Target is a collection of rambling thoughts floating through the mind of Mark Wheeler – a husband, father, pastor, teacher, author, and wannabe theologian living in the Pacific Northwest.  Mark serves as the Senior Pastor of the United Evangelical Free Church in Seattle, WA, and also serves as an instructor for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries.

I started this blog for several reasons:

  • My wife suggested I write one. Being the ever-dutiful husband, I listened. ;-} Truthfully, I listened because my wife is wise and I value and trust her opinions.
  • I had published a handful of articles over the years and served as a free-lance writer for a couple of devotional magazines. But between rejection notices, changes in editorial staff, having fewer publishable or marketable ideas, and the general busyness of life, family, and ministry, I had gotten out of the habit of writing. I had been asking God to give me an open door for writing when my wife suggested starting a blog.
  • Blogging allows me to write without the pressure of worrying whether or not my thoughts and style meet an editor’s criteria.
  • I write what is on my heart and try to practice my wordsmithing craft. If it encourages the 2 or 3 faithful readers, so much the better.

Mark, I like your blog! I work in PR at Gordon and would enjoy posting a link to your blog on ours, Notes Along the Way.
