Trunk or Treat 2014

01 Nov

Trunk 'r' TreatAt First Central Baptist Church in Chicopee, MA, we use October 31 as an outreach vehicle. Rather than celebrate Halloween, we seek to bless our community by offering a safe place for children to go Trunk or Treating.

People from our church decorate the trunks of their cars. The themes range from pumpkins to fall to biblical characters to animated movies. We give out gospels tracts, ministry brochures, and of course, lots and lots of candy. We even have a Romans Road of sculptures that people can walk down as they wait to get a family picture taken.

We want the community to know that we are good neighbors who add value to our city. We try to let people know we are a safe, fun place where they can learn how to have a relationship with Jesus.

As you can see from the photos, we had a good turnout and a fun evening. God held off the rain until it was time to close everything down, which made it even better.

One year, we had plaques with the various verses on them planted on a path leading to a family picture area. Another year we had a story area on the steps of the church. We’ve tried different approaches each year. We also give out gospel tracts and church brochures in addition to the candy.
