It follows that one of the sadder days of the year is when I take down the lights and put them back in the box. (It doesn’t help that it is always colder taking them down in January than it was putting them up in November. That and having to chip the ice around one of the gutters to free two trapped bulbs.)
While the Christmas lights may go back in the back for 11 months, our light as a Christ follower should shine year round. As Matthew 5:14–16 explains,
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
The world desperately needs to see the light of Jesus Christ. Shine brightly today!
