Off on another adventure

12 Mar

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” Bilbo Baggins to Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings

Tomorrow afternoon, I will step out my front door on my way to another adventure in Russia. Below is a synopsis of the trip and how you can pray for me.

Pray for Pastor Mark Wheeler serving in Russia

mapFrom March 13-25, Pastor Mark will be serving in Russia. This is his fifth trip in six years, helping to further train pastors and leaders in Tsibanobalka and Elista. As he has on previous trips, Mark will be working with John & Naomi Musgrave, missionaries who lead a ministry called “Mentoring Matters.” This ministry follows the example of the apostle Paul in Acts 13-14, helping to strengthen and establish churches by training leaders.

In 2011, Pastor Mark taught on the book of Joshua. In 2012, he taught on the life of David. In 2014, he taught on the Patriarchs—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, & Joseph. In 2015, he taught on the life of Moses. Carol went along in 2011 and 2014 and served behind the scenes. This year Pastor Mark will teach on the book of Romans, with an emphasis on the doctrine of salvation.

Thanks to your prayers and generous gifts, the trip is fully funded.

Here’s the schedule for the trip:

March 13-15         Travel (Boston – Amsterdam – Moscow – Anapa – Tsibanobalka)

March 17-19         Teach class in Tsibanobalka

March 20              Church in Anapa

March 20-21         Travel (Anapa – Krasnodar – Elista)

March 22-24         Teach class in Elista

March 24-25         Travel (Elista – Moscow – Amsterdam – Boston)

Please pray for safe travel, good health, effective communication, and mutual encouragement with the participants.

Internet permitting, Pastor Mark will try to provide periodic updates and post them on his blog
