To celebrate the 4th of July, Carol and I headed north to Woodstock, VT, where we visited the Billings Farm & Museum, a working dairy farm that dates back to the 1890’s. They had a special program for the day, An Old Vermont 4th. The program included speeches by Nathan Hale, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by a local Boy Scout troop, making strawberry ice cream (yummy), and tours of the farmhouse and grounds.
On the way home, we stopped by the Taftsville Covered Bridge and dam.
We ended our excursion with an early dinner at Bear’s Smokehouse Barbecue in Windsor, CT. It was an enjoyable, educational day.
