On Wednesday, I joined a group of alumni from Dallas Theological Seminary and/or Moody Bible Institute to tour the birthplace, homestead, burial site, and museum of D. L. Moody in Northfield, MA. Knowing the prominence of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and the fact Mr. Moody was a shoe salesman in Chicago, I always assumed he was from the Midwest. To my surprise, he was born and died about an hour north of where I live in Western MA. We had the rare privilege of hearing from David Powell, Mr. Moody’s great-grandson. As he gave us a tour, he recounted stories about his great grandparents. In addition to touring the birthplace and homestead, we also went into the auditorium on the Northfield Campus and also went into the chapel of Northfield Mount Hermon. It was a privilege to walk in the footsteps of great heroes of faith. Thanks go to Brent Allen for arranging the tour.
