We arrived yesterday afternoon at the home of Mark & Jan Gosnell, the parents of Andrew, our future son-in-law. We were greeted by several sheep grazing in their front yard. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon and evening getting to know the Gosnells better.
This morning, we journeyed an hour south to Wellington. We toured the Weta Workshop & Cave and were fascinated by the creativity. (For those unfamiliar with this group, they created the costumes, props, and specific effects for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, as well as numerous other feature films.) Afterwards, Carol & I visited the Te Papa Museum, the National Museum of New Zealand.
Tomorrow we fly to Christchurch on the south island, connect with Jonathan, and then the five of us–me, Carol, Jon, Manda, Phillip–will drive 8 hours to Fox Glacier.
On this adventure, we have traveled from sea to shining sea. We started at Boston on the Atlantic Ocean and traveled to New Zealand which sits between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea.
